The Real Numbers

Women make up about 11.2% of the overall U.S. construction workforce, up from under 10% in 2020, a real 45% increase over the past decade. But within on-the-tools skilled trade positions specifically, representation is much lower, most credible estimates put it around 3-4%.

Interest from women in trade training programs jumped over 30% between 2020 and 2025

Women in the trades earn about 97 cents for every dollar men make, well above the national average pay gap across most industries.
